I didn’t always know I’d write children’s books. I studied political science and public administration, imagining a different kind of career. But the path I chose didn’t fill me up the way I hoped it would. When I met my now-husband and moved to Los Angeles, everything shifted—personally and professionally. I found my way into the world of philanthropy, and more importantly, into a deeper understanding of myself.

Those early days in LA gave me something I hadn’t had before: time to reflect. And what I saw within myself was hard to ignore. I realized I’d spent years looking outside for validation—letting other people’s opinions shape how I saw myself. I wanted to change that, but to do so, I had to get clear on who I really wanted to become.

That led me on a long and ongoing journey—over a decade of studying emotional wellness, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral tools.

When my daughter Averie was born, it all came together. I wanted to give her something I didn’t have growing up: language for her inner world. Tools to help her feel grounded, kind, and whole—even when the world around her feels loud or uncertain.

These stories are my way of offering that. Gentle, lyrical, and rooted in emotional awareness, they’re written to meet kids where they are—and give the grown-ups reading with them a moment to slow down, connect, and reflect too.

We live in a time when the world feels heavy. Kids are growing up fast, surrounded by noise, pressure, and negativity. But I believe we can meet this moment with compassion. We can give children the tools to understand themselves, trust their worth, and lead with kindness—no matter what’s happening around them.

I wrote the book I couldn’t find. Now, it’s becoming a series. And through it all, Averie Lynn is here as a friend to walk alongside your child, just as she walks alongside me.
